Product Description Bipolar Disorder affects many more people than just the 2.5 million Americans who suffer from the disease. I discarded this book when I first saw it. Then when I read a few pages from it on Amazon it appeared to be a well written book. After purchasing it I can ensure you that you will have use for this book. I have Bipolar Type 1 Disorder, and this book has been a significant help.
Bipolar for Dummies is one smart purchase! September 18, 2009 Rod Guthrie (Monterey, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having been a veteran of bipolar disorder since 1985, I've got some experience under my belt with the ups and downs of this disorder. My impression of this book was that it was an excellent resource book to have in my library. The disorder criteria are well explained, the medication strategies and medication choices are very good. In addition of how to treat it medically, explanations of the types of therapy that are available (supportive, insight-oriented and cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies). It's a good fit on the bookshelf in my opinion.
informative and occasionally funny book on bipolar disorder September 15, 2009 E. Bach (NYC, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book should be required reading for all types of bipolar patients. It goes over all the kinds of bipolar disorder. I goes into great depth about the meds used to treat this disorder, which is extremely helpful. It also has a lot of information on cognitive behavioral techniques to help manage bipolar disorder.
