The Mood Cure is such a wonderful resource. I wish I had found it 10 years ago.

The book outlines how to use amino acid supplementation to relieve depression, anxiety, fluctuating moods, insomnia etc.

The book is very detailed and whatever your mood problem is there is a chapter on it! There is a diagnostic questionaire at the beginning of each chapter so you can identify the amino acids that best suit your needs. There is also a step-by-step plan for introducing the amino acids. I love the "what if this doesnt work for me" section that shows other problems that have the same mood symptoms and how to resolve them.

I have been using the amino acids as discribed in the book and have felt much calmer and more optimistic than ever before in my life.

This is a comprehensive book that is well worth the read if you are suffering from persistent negative moods and emotions.

A very very good book that everybody who is looking for an excellent life's quality should read. We really see the importance of having plenty of good complete protein in our alimentation.

Taking anything that raises serotonin lowers libido for many people, it does that because it lowers serotonin. This books fails to mention that. Taking tyrosine lowers other amino acids, thats partly why taking too much can make you extremely aggressive. It raising your dopamine which triggers that and it lowers serotonin and gaba, which inhibits that. Their is a reason why some 5htp is sold with tyrosine. To counteract eachother, though that will still lower gaba, acetycholine among others.

The reason I gave it 2 stars is because it does contain lots of very useful information.

Now many doctors do not realize that amino acids have such a balance and fail to mention it. What they always know is obvious side effects like serotonin boosters lowering libido. It is impossible that none of her patients noticed that effect and if they did she not connecting the dots. She did that many times when an amino acid had benefits she never realized it could have. Go to any supplement review site and you'll see lots of people listing that as a side effect.

This book deserves WAY more than 5 stars. It is one of my favorite books of all time. I have bought and distributed over 15 copies to everyone I know, including our priests! As someone who has for suffered years from three of the four 'unwanted' moods, it was a Godsend to finally find that there is an answer that is inexpensive, has no side effects, and doesn't require a prescription.
Go ahead, buy the book, give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

I am this book's biggest fan. When I bought it on a whim one year ago, I had NO idea it was going to change my life, but it did.

I bought this book to see if it could help with the moodiness I often felt (cranky when hungry, bad days for no apparent reason, occasional down weeks), and it did. But it did so much more than that too. I waited a full year to review this book, because I wanted to give the full long-run picture of its benefits, though I started noticing them within a couple of weeks.

The first thing I noticed was exactly what the book promised. My moods improved. No, you don't become happy and upbeat 100% of the time. If something sad or disappointing happens in your life you will still feel sad and disappointed. But you stop getting those moods that come out of nowhere and leave you feeling confused and drained. During the same first few weeks I also noticed my energy level was much higher and my sleep patterns improving. I used to have issues falling asleep, and suddenly I was finding that I could fall asleep within 10-15 mintues of going to bed, which seemed like a miracle!

As time passed and I worked on the diet and improved how I followed it, I started to notice 3 major things I had no idea would be affected:

1. I no longer was getting sick all the time. I used to be one of those people that caught everything going around. If my coworkers got sick, I got sick. If my roommates got sick, I got sick. If my boyfriend got sick, I got sick. I talked to doctors about it and was told that some people just get sick more often than others. Wash your hands, get sleep, drink fluids, etc. All the things I was already doing. I am AMAZED beyond belief to report that since beginning this diet a year ago I have not been fully sick one single time. (I had the beginnings of a cold and a flu during the fall that both went away within 24-48 hours.) Compare this to a normal year in which i would get at least 5 colds that would each last the full 2 weeks if not more.

2. My exercise induced asthma has disappeared. I developed mild asthma when I was about 20. Since following this diet I have not had a single attack and have stopped using preventative measures before exercising and have even begun to stop carrying my inhaler in most circumstances.

3. My chronic headaches have subsided. I've been battling headaches on and off since 4th grade and no doctor has ever been able to find a lasting med that has worked. I get headaches like a normal person now... only when I'm extremely stressed or hungover!


I should stress the difficulty of this diet. This is by no means an "easy" cure. But it's an amazing one. Worth every penny for the supplements. Worth every painstaking moment of cooking and shopping for the healthier, less-processed foods (which also cost more money).

I've become a cheerleader for this diet and actually bought 5 copies of the book to lend out to people. My boyfriend finally began the diet a few months ago and is also noticing amazing results in his own way. (He enjoys running and has found he is faster and has much more endurance.)

I have read a couple of other books on this subject and so far this is my favorite. I plan to read more in the future. My favorite thing about her book is that she does a good job of describing what these foods are doing to your body and why they are resulting in bad moods. I needed that kind of description to get behind it and really give it a try.

Please do yourself a favor and buy it and read it and follow it. It's the best thing you will ever do.
I didn't even know my life needed so much improving until this book improved it 10-fold.
This book is a journey though. A year later I am still working on the diet and trying to perfect how I follow it. Plan to work hard, and plan to reap the benefits!
